The Outfit
If you know me well, you will know I have spent the past 2/3 weeks now browsing online, looking in shops and trying to find something to wear! My journey always begins with Asos as I love their occasion wear dresses and knew it had to be something special but with longevity to wear again. So in the end I went for this quite plain maxi style in light chiffon with high leg cut slits, I have layered over the top a vintage beaded neck piece I found in my nans attic a few years ago. I felt the combination was simple yet sophisticated and the beading added a slightly more expensive feel to the dress. For accessories I haven’t played them down at all, I have gone for a rose gold clutch bag from Miss Selfridge and a fur stole from Boohoo. To complete the look I have the most perfect heels in black, gold and silver glitter from Dorothy Perkins about 3 years ago (but my all time favs)! What do you think of the outfit? It’s too late to change it but I feel comfortable in it and I guess thats all that matters.
The Hair
For my hair I knew I wanted to make my new shorter do voluminous with curls, with a classic yet classy feel to it. I got these amazing ghd Curve Classic Curling Tongs to achieve the look I wanted, and WOW I am in love with these, I don’t know why I have’t got them sooner. I have used various tongs in the past but always went back to my trusty straighteners to put waves in, however I would end up with some ringlets and some lack luster waves. These ghd’s literally take 2 seconds to heat up (with the blue light even making noises as to when they are hot enough) and the process is so quick. I sectioned my hair into 2 parts and curled the under layer first, then the top shorter layer. In total it took about 20 minutes to do my hair, which for me is amazing as I have fine hair but a lot of it! I was so happy with the outcome and can’t wait to use these all the time for years to come.
I hope you enjoyed getting ready with me for the Royal Variety, keep an eye on my Twitter for live tweets from the night. @paigejoannaa
